Visit most yoga studios and the classes are generally geared for adults. They are often quiet, serene experiences where each individual is focused on their personal practise, blocking out external stimuli, and concentrating on their body and breath. So how do you reconcile that experience with teaching yoga to kids or teens.
Yoga for Kids
Kids are fun, playful and energetic. They want a social, exciting, creative outlet to express their love of life and natural curiosity. Yoga provides a wonderful opportunity to do so.
Physically and mentally yoga must be adapted to suit their current situation and level of understanding. That means bring in the partner poses, the laughter, and the games. Maybe even a stuffed animal or two. Let loose and have some fun while you explore your world and the gift that is the human body.

Yoga for Teens
Teens may think they have all the rights, abilities and attitude as adults, but we all know they are not truly prepared for a full on assault into the adult world. Embrace their rebelliousness, challenge them physically, let them explore their body and what they are capable of, recognize their inner beauty.
The teenage years are full of upheaval, change, and uncertainty. Yoga can provide an anchor amidst those storms and can channel some of that negativity into very positive outcomes. Listen to your teens and know that yoga can meet their needs in amazing and creative ways.
