Recently read this post at fitbrains.com about how we define fitness for our children. It got me thinking about the role mental stimulus, physical activity, good nutrition, and spiritual nurturing play in our overall fitness.
I especially love their definition of fitness:
“Fitness is a combination of wellness of the mind, body and spirit. In fact, all of these things are interconnected. Fitness is your health at its very best. A child that is fit is not just physically fit, but he or she should have a great emotional and mental well-being as well.”
So are you providing your children what they need to be fit?
I think this is a continual goal of parents and teachers – to care for our children’s mind’s, body’s and spirit’s to the very best of our ability. It can seem rather daunting at times, but I firmly believe that as we strive each and every day to give our best to those around us, that it will be good enough.
What ways do you help your children develop their overall fitness? (Mental, physical, & spiritual) Please share your triumphs and your trials.
