Yoga in Honour of Halloween Week

Yoga in Honour of Halloween Week

Welcome to Halloween Week

The kids have spent weeks planning their costumes, are anxious to carve pumpkins, have signed you up to attend their school party with orange frosted cupcakes in hand, and can’t wait for the 31st and the hoards of candy strangers will give them for a simple “Trick or Treat.”

Gotta love the final few days of October.

In the spirit of fun, and in keeping with the season, I’m posting “Zombies Doing Yoga.”

Get the Flash Player to see the wordTube Media Player.

The invite said, “Bring a Yoga Mat, Dress Like a Zombie” …we had no idea how many real zombies would attend. Inspired by the book The Zen of Zombie. Directed by Jason Wishnow.

So all of you who are taking up the Yogadork Impromptu Yoga Mission challenge, know that “Zombies” has already been done. Move on, find inspiration elsewhere.

For a few other suggestions of how to celebrate Halloween yoga style  look to Childlight Yoga Blog‘s Halloween Yoga for Kids and The PranaMama‘s Halloween Fun-Yoga in Disguise. These ladies have tons of great ideas many of which I’ll be using during my Kids Yoga Classes this week at the St. Albert Yoga Centre. These will work equally well for your own Halloween celebration - classroom teachers and parents take note. So this year include a fun, interactive, get your body moving activity to complete your party planning. Gotta channel that sugar rush somehow.

If you enjoyed this post forward it to a friend or re-tweet it and spread the Yoga Zombie love.

Amazing how versitle yoga can be. Come up with a theme and have some fun!

  2. Wow – the Zombie Yoga is pretty different: funny and scary at the same time! I wish I could show my kids, but I think they’d be too frightened.

Thanks for the resource of other Halloween Yoga links. Your classes must be a lot of fun!

  3. I hope your Halloween yoga classes are a blast! Have fun and be sure to let me know which ideas flipped or flopped!

Will let you know which they loved and didn’t. They were totally pumped about wearing costumes so that’ll be fun.
Yea, Zombie Yoga isn’t for the under 6 crowd but it was too much Halloween fun to pass up. My son (grade 7) loved it! Goulish teens!

I have a feeling Michael Jackson’s Thriller will be popular at Halloween this year. Zombies and music. I’ve been looking at the dance moves and there are a lot of shoulder shrugs, side stretches – and of course pelvic tilts.
