Yoga In My School is thrilled to review and offer a giveaway of Yoga for Children by Lisa Flynn.
This easy to understand, thorough guide answers the how and why of sharing yoga with children. With over 300 pages of tips and techniques this book provides a wide range of resources for those serious about encouraging healthy, mindful living for kids.
As she was preparing the manuscript, Lisa sent me a sneak peek into her book. At that time I wrote:
“Lisa’s book is like attending a top rate kids’ yoga course. Including everything from mindfulness techniques to yoga games all in a very practical and approachable way, Lisa demystifies yoga for children and show parents just how easy yoga is to do with your kids.”
When the finished copy arrived at my door I was most impressed. The book is divided into three sections.
- Yoga with Your Child – sets the stage with a introduction to kids yoga, tips for success and how to tailor the practice to various ages
- Building Blocks of Yoga for Children – covers mindful meditations, breath work, poses, games, songs and relaxation
- Putting all Together – provides useful ready made sequences
What I really like about this book is that it is clearly written and easy to use with each pose or activity having three parts:
- What to Do
- What to Say
With lots of colorful photos Yoga for Children is a must have resource for kids yoga professionals.
